How do I bid on a domain name in a Showcase Auction?

Step 1: You’ll need to have a SnapNames account to bid. If you don't have a SnapNames account create one now; or log into your existing account.

Step 2:  Follow the auction links from the Showcase headquarters at: http://showcase.snapnames.com/

Step 3: Select domains to bid on by clicking the “Place Bid” buttons. Or you can choose to watch a particular domain’s bidding activity by clicking on the binoculars icon. This will add this domain to your Active Auctions screen, thus making it easier to watch. Either way you can join an auction and enter a proxy bid any time before the auction ends.

Can I watch the auctions online without bidding?

Yes, all you need is a SnapNames account. Simply log into your account and watch the auction action from the Showcase Auction bidding interface.

How do I pay for domain names that I won in a Showcase Auction?

If a domain is successfully won at auction, we will work with the winning bidder and seller to complete the sale as soon as possible.

As a buyer, your credit card will be charged upon the successful completion AND transfer of your purchased domain. In the event that the purchase is greater than $5,000 we may request a wire transfer to ensure success processing of your transaction.

Sellers can request a payment via check, bank wire, PayPal, or you can retain the funds at SnapNames for purchase of additional domains. We make our best effort to complete transfer within 7 business days of initiating the escrow process.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To expedite the payment process, we ask that sellers transfer their domains to a Moniker registrar account as soon as they are notified that given domains have been accepted for inclusion in a Showcase Auction.

Selling Domains in a Showcase Auctions

Why sell your domain names in a SnapNames Showcase Auction?

Sellers will want to capitalize on all the attention and interest each Showcase Auction will receive from buyers who are actively looking for hand-picked, quality domains. With their longstanding leading positions in the domain aftermarket space, SnapNames and Moniker can reach over 150,000 qualified buyers from around the world with their promotional efforts, giving sellers an unmatched opportunity to sell their domains for a truly fair open market price.

How do I submit domains for consideration?

Domain names you wish to sell in a Showcase Auction can be submitted via our online submission process. To get started, click on the 'Submit domain names to sell' link associated with a specific auction event in our auction calendar at: http://showcase.snapnames.com/

What you will need to submit domains for consideration:

Can sellers set their reserve prices?

Yes. However, we encourage sellers to “trust the market” and set their reserves as low as possible to increase bidding activity. Note that a 15% commission fee is added to the seller’s reserve to establish the auction reserve price requirement.

Do my names have to be registered at Moniker to be considered in the auction?

No, but we highly encourage it to ensure the quickest and most efficient settlement process. Having your domain registered at Moniker also helps the domain sell faster because buyers are attracted by the expedited escrow and transfer process, which can be completed in less than 3 days.

Domains held at another registrar must go through a successful transfer process before the transaction can be completed. Unfortunately, the extra manual effort and time required to supervise a sold domain through this transfer process necessitates the assessments of a $100 transfer assistance fee.

What is the commission rate for domains sold at auction?

Sellers pay a 15% commission, which is the lowest commission available throughout all aftermarket outlets on the Moniker and SnapNames network. Note that the 15% commission fee is added to the seller’s reserve to establish the auction reserve price paid by the buyer.

Are certain types of domains more likely to be accepted for inclusion in a Showcase Auction? Which domains are more likely to sell?

The number one driving force behind domains selected for auction is sale potential.

Here are several recommendations for getting your domains selected and sold:

How do I close the transaction on domains successful sold in a Showcase Auction?

If a domain is successfully sold at auction, we will work with the winning bidder to collect the payment and the seller to transfers domains not at Moniker.

Sellers can request a payment via check, bank wire, PayPal, or you can retain the funds at SnapNames for purchase of additional domains. We make our best effort to complete transfer within 7 business days of initiating the escrow process.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To expedite the payment process, we ask that sellers transfer their domains to a Moniker registrar account that they control upon acceptance into the auction.
